Our Diploma of Fashion Technology students have been hard at work creating gorgeous lingerie items! Their challenge was to craft a unique lingerie look out of provided lace, which fit with the challenge title ‘Sugar & Spice’. The results are breath-taking…
Fiona’s beautiful lilac and nude lingerie is made with mesh and lace, and inspired by the style of For Love And Lemons. Fiona created a soft cup bra, because they are on-trend – just like the high cut of the briefs! Finding the right type of closures was challenging, and the layers of mesh, lace and elastic at the front of the brief required very precise pinning and stitching. Liam found making lingerie pretty challenging! He embraced the Sugar and Spice theme and created moodboards using browns and neutrals. He wanted to use a colour which was unusual for lingerie and create something easy-to-wear and sexy.
Jordan’s lingerie started out quite differently! She had originally planned to create a soft-cup bralette with a wide frill under the bust, but changed her design because she realised the frill would not sit comfortably under clothes. She wanted to create a lingerie ensemble which was comfortable for everyday wear, but still cute and sexy! Jordan re-designed based on the thickness of the lace, which she was drawn to because of the lovely blush hue. Follow Jordan on Instagram at @jordannoah_creativespaces for more of her designs.
Rawi decided to break away from the feminine look, and create a unique sport-inspired look. She took inspiration from NZ label Lonely Label, and sportswear creator Lululemon. The mesh was delicate, and challenging to work with, and the straps had to be measured perfectly – but the result is gorgeous and edgy! Follow Rawi on Instagram @_raawry_
Sam’s beautiful design is created with plum hued lace and black velvet. Sam designed the garter belt first, and then designed the bra and briefs to match it! She wanted to create something flattering and unique, and used underwiring in the bra to add support.
Ming created the most modest lingerie look in our Auckland Diploma class, with beautiful, sheer mesh draping. The briefs are made from a different lace to the bra, and the low cut is actually a gorgeous little skirt, which adds a bit more coverage. The ruffles on the bust are perfect for concealing a flat chest!
Nadia created a traditional underwire bra with a full cup, which was a challenge in itself! She used beautiful green, white and black lace which is meticulously placed and cut, so the pattern of the lace is matching.
